AAP shrinks to a naught

Amritsar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the main Opposition in the state Assembly, couldn’t win even a single seat in the Municipal Corporation (MC), Amritsar, elections. Though the party-wise data of votes is not available yet, the results may demoralise the party cadres.

Just 10 months ago, its candidates from all five seats here had bagged 1,29,355 votes in the Assembly elections. In this way, of the total 5,10,437 valid votes polled, the AAP had got 25.34 per cent votes.

Talking to The Tribune, a senior party functionary said, “The party’s support base constitutes of silent voters who can’t come out openly against the burly candidates. AAP will manage to keep its vote share intact.” (manmeet gill)
