District witnesses increase of 2,989 students in pre-primary classes

NAWANSHAHR: District education officer (DEO), Vinod Kumar on Saturday said as many as 2,989 new students in the age group of 3 to 6 years had been admitted in pre-primary class in the government primary schools of the district.

District education officer (DEO), Vinod Kumar on Saturday said as many as 2,989 new students in the age group of 3 to 6 years had been admitted in pre-primary class in the government primary schools of the district.

“As many as 723 teachers including 31 centre head teachers (CHT),169 head teachers (HTs), 359 ETT( Elementary teacher taining), 115 Service Providers and 49 EGS / STR / AIE volunteers were imparted training to execute ‘Khed Mahals’ in primary schools to provide joyful learning environment to the pre-primary students,” the DEO further added.

Sharing the views, Kavita Sabharwal, ETT teacher of Government Primary School, Kang said the activities learnt during the training workshop had been proving very helpful in making the teaching learning process enjoyable for the pre-primary students.

“The ‘Khed Mahals’ have been proving to be a boon both for the teachers and the students. The learning as well as the confidence level of the students have constantly been improving and the teachers have been getting response from the students, which ultimately boosts the energy level of the teachers to do better,”she added.

The Education Officers said The “Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab” program, launched a year ago, by the Education Department for bringing in qualitative improvement in the school education had started bearing fruits. “Besides equipping the teachers with innovative, activity and student oriented teaching techniques, a specific target has been assigned to the teachers to strengthen the basic learning level of the students. Moreover, a team of specially trained teachers at district and block level has been visiting schools regularly to ensure continuous monitoring.” said the DEO.
