For implementing the “Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO)” campaign in the district, the police and civil administration will develop a mohalla and a village under every police station as drug-free mohalla or village in the initial phase as a model to be replicated in the entire district.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held under Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Sinha and Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar here at the District Administrative Complex.
The officers said the “Nasha Mukt Mohallas” and “Nasha Mukt Pind” would be the first step towards making Punjab a drug-free state. They asked all sub divisional magistrates and deputy superintendents of police/ assistant commissioners of Police to finalise the names of villages and mohallas that had to be made drug-free. They said these names had to be submitted to the administration by the end of this month.
