Jalandhar, September 15
After addressing an EDUSAT session on Wednesday, Education Secretary Krishan Kumar visited the CT Group of Institutions to attend a training session here today.
While today was the last day of the ongoing state-level training camp — Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab — at the CT Group of Institutions, the district Education Department was caught napping as it came to know about the Education Secretary’s visit only after he arrived in the city. Thereafter, the District Education Officer reached the spot.
Addressing block mentors during the training session, he reprimanded various schools of Nawanshahr for their ‘lackadaisical’ arrangements.
While the Education Secretary reached Jalandhar in the afternoon, he stayed in the district for an hour.
He said, “As per the training, whatever you learn shall be passed on to students.”
The Parho Punjab scheme is being run for upper primary classes. The district mentor for the scheme has already got training in Fatehgarh Sahib and providing training in three districts — Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Fatehgarh Sahib.
Before visiting Jalandhar, the Education Secretary also visited Bhagat Singh Nagar where he checked schools in Kahma and Jasso Majara villages. He reprimanded the staff for the mess at Kahma school.
He was also annoyed at the dirt and accumulated practical notebooks as well as old checked papers at the school staff room.
