Jalandhar: DIPS, Mehta Chowk, and DIPS, Begowal, organised an educational event by displaying the latest scientific gadgets in a mobile van. In this vehicle, different gadgets pertaining to the conservation of solar energy, human digestive system, model of human body and human heart were displayed.

Jalandhar: DIPS, Mehta Chowk, and DIPS, Begowal, organised an educational event by displaying the latest scientific gadgets in a mobile van. In this vehicle, different gadgets pertaining to the conservation of solar energy, human digestive system, model of human body and human heart were displayed. Knowledge of BMI body mass index (BMI) was also given to students and they were educated about the relationship between height and body weight. Children were also taken to Galaxy Planetarium and given knowledge about the solar system. DIPS Chairman Gurbachan Singh and MD Tarwinder Singh wished students good luck and said the institute would keep on arranging such educational trips for increasing practical knowledge of students. They also congratulated the staff and authorities of the schools and for the successful organisation of the events. TNS

International programme

Jalandhar: Eleven students of Cambridge International Foundation School collected their long-awaited results of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination administered by CIE (Cambridge International Examinations), University of Cambridge, UK. “These results are richly deserved. Our pupils have worked with great determination. Results like this testify the dedication and proficiency of our staff,” said a school spokesperson. Principal Stanley Anthony and members of the management congratulated the students, parents and teachers. He said, “All glory comes from daring to begin; let’s embrace the prospect of moving on to something spectacular – the Canadian Alberta Education, starting July 2017”. TNS

Workshop for mothers

Jalandhar: Nobel school organised a Mother’s Day workshop to celebrate the occasion. The pre-nursery wing participated in the celebrations and mothers of kids were invited. Some recited poems while others sang songs in praise of their mothers. Students of KG sections performed western dance. The story ‘Red Riding Hood’ was also presented by them. Various games were played to entertain the mothers. School Director Ranjana Sud, through a presentation, advised mothers to give quality time to their little ones. School Chairman Prof CL Kochher, Managing Director Kumar Shiv Kochher and Principal Meenakshi Mehta also spoke on the occasion. TNS

Traffic awareness

Amritsar: A seminar on traffic rules was held at Government Senior Secondary School, Town Hall, on Saturday. With the help of traffic police, the seminar was held under the United Nations Global Road Safety Week. Addressing students, Sub-Inspector Parmjit Singh and Head Constables Satwant Singh made them aware of rules while commuting over the road. They also threw light on the punishments that errants can face. The students were informed that speed was the biggest contributor to road mishaps. Earlier, school principal Balwinder Singh welcomed the guests. He exhorted the students to follow road safety norms. TNS
