Employment fair tomorrow at skill development centre

JALANDHAR: An employment fair (Rozgar Mela) is being organised at the Multi-Skill Development Centre, Leather Complex, Jalandhar, on March 24.

An employment fair (Rozgar Mela) is being organised at the Multi-Skill Development Centre, Leather Complex, Jalandhar, on March 24.

Director of the centre KJS Pannu said more than 500 students, which have undergone skills training would participate. All major industrialists of Punjab have also been invited to absorb the trained students into the insdustry.

He said students from other skill training providers like AISECT, ISS-PS enterprises, IIS Ludhiana would also be participating. The Multi Skill Development Centre is being run by Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) Skill Development Corporation on behalf of the Punjab Government’s Punjab Skill Development Mission.

He said Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma would preside over the Rozgar Mela. Students available for placements have been trained as CNC machine operators, electricians, stitchers- goods and garments, customer care executives as well as in fields like nursing, beauty and wellness, retail and computers.

The centre had become operational on March 16 and was transferred for operations to IL&FS Skill Development Corporation Ltd, which is the largest skill development centre operating in more than 25 states of India.
