The Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus is organising a three-day ‘entrepreneurship awareness campaign’, which began on Tuesday. The campaign is being held under the aegis of National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, implemented by Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad. Ahsan Ul Haq, president, Jalandhar Management Association was the chief guest. The three-day campaign began with a floral welcome of the chief guest by Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus. Dr Bagga delivered a welcome address and stated that the purpose of the camp was to boost and promote the culture of ‘creating jobs’ rather than ‘doing jobs’ which was the dire need of the hour. It aims at sensitising students of creating opportunities for turning their entrepreneurial plans into reality. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Director, Apeejay Institute of Management Technical Campus, expressed that the workshop was going to be beneficial for the budding entrepreneurs.

‘Forget cash, go digital’

Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA) workshop was hosted by Ramgarhia Institute of Engineering and Technology, Phagwara, in collaboration with IK Gujral Punjab Technical University and HDFC Bank. The workshop was attended by students of Ramgarhia Institute of Engineering and Technology and Ramgarhia Institute of Management and Advance Studies, Phagwara. Dr Naveen Dhillon, principal, RIET, welcomed the dignitaries, students and faculty members and motivated all for becoming cashless and go digital. Anubrat S Dadhwal, manager, digital commerce and Amit Kumar, relationship manager, HDFC Bank, were the key speakers of the day. They apprised the participants of the procedures of e-banking, net-banking, mobile-banking, UPI, missed call banking, USSD, AEPS and Payzapp. They also shared their thoughts with the participants about the securities and safe use of net-banking. Dr Vyoma Bhogal Dhatt, Director, REI, Phagwara, advised the students to be a part of this campaign and to aware the people in their respective villages/towns regarding the benefits of digital payments.

Seminar on road safety

A seminar on ‘road safety’ was organised at Kamla Nehru Public School, Chak Hakim, Phagwara. The seminar was conducted by Prayas Citizen’s Welfare Council, Phagwara, Punarjot Welfare Society and traffic police, Phagwara, on Tuesday. Students of Class XII attended the seminar. Surinder Singh, ASI, traffic police, briefed students on road safety and traffic rules. The aim of the seminar was to inculcate virtuous traffic sense among students to help in reducing the accidents. Ashok Mehra, state coordinator, Punarjot Welfare Society, made students aware of the consequences of carelessness on road. Students were also provided with leaflets on road safety and traffic rules. PK Dhillon, principal, appealed to students to drive safely and obey the traffic rules.
