Judicial Magistrate, Phillaur, Ravipal Singh, has sentenced Gurmail Singh and his son Harpreet Singh of Government Polytechnic, Hoshiarpur, to a rigorous imprisonment of three years under Sections 452, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and six months under Sections 323, read with 34 of the IPC for assaulting Harbans Singh of Dhesian Kanha on October 2 in 2013 with iron rods.
The two were also fined Rs 3,000 each under section 452 of the Indian Penal Code and Rs 1,000 each under section 323 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the FIR registered under sections 452, 323, 379 and 34 of the IPC at Goraya police station, against the father and son, the assailants mercilessly beat up Harbans Singh at his residence following a family dispute in which the latter was seriously injured.
