Jalandhar, April 26

A fire broke out at a godown in the Qazi Mandi area on Thursday and gutted the carton-packaging material worth lakhs kept inside the premises.

Though no loss of life was reported, a car was burnt in the incident.

Informing this to The Tribune, sub fire officer Rajinder Sharma said he got a call at around 3 in the morning about the fire and immediately rushed fire tenders to the spot.

However, the fire was so huge that the department had to call tenders from nearby districts also.

Despite making over 30 to 35 rounds, the firemen took over 12 hours to douse the flames.

Also, two more fire incidents were reported in the city. While one was reported at the Kishan Pura cremation ground, where dry wood caught fire, another was reported near the Sodal temple.
