JALANDHAR: The rural police today arrested a gang of snatchers who used to loot people by putting red chilly powder in their eyes.

The rural police today arrested a gang of snatchers who used to loot people by putting red chilly powder in their eyes. The five accused have been identified as Sunny (21), Harjot (19 ), Vishal alias Shalu (19), Mukesh Kumar alias Bobby (45) and Himanshu alias Manshu (18), all residents of Basti Bawa Khel.

SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Inspector Jaswinder Singh, SHO, Maqsudan, while conducting patrolling received an information that the accused had installed fake registration number plates on their motorcycles. He further informed that they were duly armed with lethal weapons and had gathered in the area of Wariana village. They were going to loot money from a foreman of a private company, the police said.

The police said the accused revealed that among many incidents of snatching, they looted mobile phones from migrant labourers too.
