Health Dept holds seminars on health issues

JALANDHAR: Under the “Tandarust Punjab Mission” a seminar was held to spread awareness on health issues on Monday.

Under the “Tandarust Punjab Mission” a seminar was held to spread awareness on health issues on Monday. The seminar was held at the District Administrative Complex. District Epidemiologist Dr Satish Kumar apprised the gathering of diseases like dengue and chikungunya. He asked everyone to keep their surroundings clean to prevent dengue larvae.

The Health Department also organised a seminar in tandem with the district Mandi Board at Maqsoodan Mandi, Jalandhar, as per the instructions of Varun Roojam, MD, Food and Drug Administration, Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, and Civil Surgeon Jalandhar, Dr Jaspreet Kaur.

SDM Parmveer Singh, emphasised that the fruit vendors should strictly adhere to the rules for ripening fruits and should use fruit ripening chambers set for this purpose. Dr Balwinder Singh, DHO, apprised fruit vendors of the health hazards caused by chemical substances that may cause serious diseases like cancer, gastritis, liver, kidney and heart diseases. He said those flouting the rules would be dealt with strictly.
