Jail guard nabbed with 2 mobiles, 189 pills

HOSHIARPUR: A jail guard of PESCO (Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation), who was deployed in Central Jail here, was nabbed with two mobile phones and a large number of pills when he was going for duty inside the jail on Thursday afternoon.

A jail guard of PESCO (Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation), who was deployed in Central Jail here, was nabbed with two mobile phones and a large number of pills when he was going for duty inside the jail on Thursday afternoon.

Jail superintendent GS Sahota said during the change of duty guard in the afternoon, PESCO employee Dilawar Singh, a resident of Boothgarh, was going for the job inside the jail. As soon as he reached the jail gate, head warder Maniram, deployed there, searched him during which a mobile phone, hidden under the belt, was recovered from his uniform, which also had the battery and SIM card.

During his thorough search, another smartphone was recovered from the right side of his belt. Meanwhile, the warder also got a polythene packet from the turban of the accused in which 189 pills were hidden.

The accused was arrested and the city police had been notified for filing an FIR.
