As an amount of Rs 5.74 crore is due from promoters of various colonies in Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur, the Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) has issued notices to 19 colonisers asking them to pay the amount at the earliest.
The civic body is recovering the amount of the pending licence fee and external development charges from the promoters of the approved colonies.
Since the process of issuing notices started about a month ago, the JDA has so far been able to recover Rs 1.44 crore. Of the recovered amount, Rs 1.3 crore came directly from Hamilton Land Developers, owned by Rakesh Sabharwal. The promoter still has to pay Rs 1.28 lakh to the authorities.
The JDA is yet to recover Rs 1.23 crore from PPR Developers and Builders. The promoter was issued notice about two weeks ago but the authorities have not recovered anything so far.
AGI Infra Ltd, operating from Urban Estate, Phase-2, Jalandhar, too had Rs 1.06 crore due to the JDA, of which it has paid Rs 14.53 lakh.
The list also includes colonisers from Hoshiarpur, including Maharaja Builders, Associate Builders, Habitat Colonisers, Lov Kush Colonisers, Sukhwinder Singh and Ajit Singh. There are two defaulters — Kapurthala Builders and Baljinder Kaur — from Kapurthala.
Chief Administrator Girish Dayalan said, “A month ago, we had started making lists of defaulters and issuing notices to the colonisers. Our staff have been doing a follow-up with the builders for recovering the dues. We are hopeful of getting all dues soon.”
