The Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday arrested a kanungo and a patwari while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,500.

The accused have been identified as kanungo Nachhatar Singh and patwari Surinder Pal Singh, who were posted at Mehatpur in Nakodar tehsil.

They were arrested for accepting the bribe from Jarnail Singh, a resident of Umarwal Billa in Nakodar.

Action was initiated after a complaint was filed with Daljinder Singh Dhillon, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), VB.

“Jarnail Singh had lodged a complaint that a kanungo and a patwari were demanding bribe from him for demarcation of his land.
