JALANDHAR: Nirlep Singh Rai, Chief General Manager (CGM), National Fertilisers Limited (NFL), visited Lovely Professional University (LPU) today.

Jalandhar, February 12

Nirlep Singh Rai, Chief General Manager (CGM), National Fertilisers Limited (NFL), visited Lovely Professional University (LPU) today. He apprised students of Schools of Bio-Sciences and Agriculture of soil fertility, deficiency of various nutrients, increase in fertiliser use efficiency, and maximisation of yields.

He acquainted students with chemical-based synthetic fertilisers, animal manure and compost-based organic fertilisers. The CJM said, “Nowadays, with the misuse or improper usage of fertilisers, the crop-production is either lessening, or becoming nutritionally deficient. This all is happening because farmers are not well-awakened about the right use of fertilisers. For better crop production, proper guidance about fertilisers is necessary.”

He asked students to guide farmers who to use fertilisers in a proper way to have quick and efficient production. He advised students that various issues related to soil testing and soil health should be learnt in basic forms at the preliminary stage of studies. — TNS
