Life term for couple in murder case

HOSHIARPUR: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge SK Singla gave life imprisonment to a couple for killing their sister-in-law and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 each on them.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge SK Singla gave life imprisonment to a couple for killing their sister-in-law and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 each on them. If the couple fail to pay the penalty, they would have to undergo an additional imprisonment of one year.

Jasvir Pal, a resident of Fattovol village, had filed a complaint with the Bulallowal police on February 1, 2015. In the complaint, he had alleged that on January 31, 2015, his maternal cousin Ashok Kumar and his wife Sunita, residing near Dhillon Public School, Ludhiana, came to their house at around 7 pm. He told that his sister-in-law Gurmeet Kaur’s brother, Jeet Singh, a resident of Fambian village, had also come to his house.

After dinner, they all went to sleep in different rooms. At around 2 am at night, they heard a loud noise in the house. When his wife switched on the lights, they saw that Ashok Kumar and his wife Sunita had sharp weapons in their hands. Both the accused had injured his father, Mahinder Pal.

Meanwhile, Jeet Singh also came out of the other room and he was also assualted. After this, the two accused escaped from the spot. After this, they started to take the injured to the hospital. During this, they found his sister-in-law Gurmit Kaur lying dead in her room and her body drenched in blood with wounds of sharp weapons on her neck.

After this incident, the police registered a case against the couple and they were arrested later.

Today, the court convicted and sentenced them.
