The Jalandhar Municipal Corporation (MC) today launched a door-to-door system for the payment of water and sewerage charges. Considering the inconvenience faced by residents in paying their water supply/sewerage bills, the civic body has introduced this system.

This way the MC has become the first civic body in the state to do live integration of hand-held devices with its server. The service was launched by Mayor Jagdish Raja, who said they would shortly also release a unique ID number for all residents registered with the MC.

Partnering with a private bank for the initiative, MC officials will approach tax payers with PoS (point of sale) machines, enabling them to make the payments through debit and credit cards. Employees of the MC shall now receive on-the-spot payments through this system.

Now, people will enjoy a foolproof system wherein they can deposit the bills through cashless digital collection system, cutting out any threats or chances of corruption.

People can also make payments via cash/cheque. Those making the payment by cash/cheque will receive SMS confirmation once the amount is realised.

The MC has formed 10 teams in the first phase. It has appealed to people to avail the service and clear their dues.
