Despite the municipal elections round the corner, over 3,000 employees of the MC have not received salary for the past two months. The staff members have threatened to disrupt the elections to be held in the second week of December.
Chandan Grewal, president, Punjab Sanitation Workers Union, said, “Though the state government has released its GST share, the MC is yet to release salaries to its staff members. Some of them have got salaries for the month of October.”
MC Commissioner Basant Garg said the GST share was received by the civic body yesterday and the remaining staff would be given salaries soon.
