More info sought on MC websites

The Punjab Pardesh Congress Committee senior vice-hairman of the RTI cell, Sanjay Sehgal, has written to the Local Bodies Minister Navjot Sidhu, asking him to make the portals of the municipal corporations (MCs) of Punjab more informative.

In his letter, he has written to Sidhu: “The provision of good governance and transparency is the main agenda of the Congress government. More transparency can help stop corruption, watch irregularities, carelessness and neglect of duty in the Local Bodies Department. It is my submission to you to get uploaded 10 points in all MC websites so that aware residents can cross check anything going wrong.”

The information which has been sought to be uploaded on the MC websites includes:

• Each and every proceeding, agenda of MC House and Finance and Contracts Committee meetings.
• Monthly income and expenditure statement, balance sheet and annual budget for the year 2018-2019 of the MCs.
• Availability of collection book of building application along with detail annexure sheet of ward number, detailed address of building, address name of the owner/builder, building application number, height of the building in feet, floor-area ratio of the building in sq feet, number of storeys in a building, whether basement is the part, total approved cost of the project, whether NOC taken from adjoining properties to left vacant space for front and rear, right and left setback open in commercial buildings as uploaded in the MC Patiala website.
• List of parks with detailed annexure sheet of ward number, name of park, location, address, developed/ undeveloped, maintenance of parks and chowks by corporation/ society/company, area of park in sq feet, tubewell installed working or not, street lights in park installed working or not, fountains installed working or not, footpath developed in park with tiles or not, seating arrangements like benches provided in park or not, amusement rides installed or not, open gym installed or not as uploaded in the MC Patiala website. 
• Details of parking sites allotted/unallotted from where the MC is losing revenue, details of permanent street food vendors/rehris along with location and area encroached, monthly income to the Tehbazari Department.
• Details and progress of the work for various projects taken under the MP Local Area Development Schemes.
• Animal birth control programme (sterilisation) of stray dogs with detailed annexure sheet dogs operated male and female, date and area from where stray dogs caught as uploaded in MC Mohali website. 
• List of architects and contractors enlisted with the Municipal Corporations.
• E-tenders, manual tenders, terms and conditions of tenders related to all departments. 
• Status and action taken report on RTI applications.
