After a long political tussle and war of words between Congress Leader Joginder Singh Maan and BJP leader Som Parkash, the much awaited multi-storey parking complex would be inaugurated by Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on June 17.

This was stated by former minister Joginder Singh Maan after meeting Sidhu on Saturday. He disclosed that Sidhu will also inaugurate the auditorium on that day. Rs 10 cr was spent on the construction of the parking complex and Rs 5 cr on the auditorium, said Maan.

Congress leaders including Councillors Sanjeev Bugga, Ram Paul Uppal, Munish Parbhakar, Jatinder Vermani, Darshan Lal Dharamshot, Avinash Gupta, Satya Devi, Suman Sharma and Seeta Devi were among those persons who along with Maan met Sidhu.

It may be mentioned here that Municipal Corporation Phagwara had sought e-tenders for the parking complex on June 22 and the inauguration would be five days before allotting contract of parking. Notable BJP MLA Som Parkash along with Mayor Arun Khosla had inaugurated the parking complex on September 18 last year but the congress dominated administration installed barricades before the parking complex to prevent it for operational.
