Phagwara, February 21
Bishram Prashad (34), a resident of Jharkhand, was found murdered with sharp-edged weapons in nearby Nangal Majha village today. The body of the victim was found lying in a pool of blood near the residence of Kuldip Singh, a local resident.
Parminder Singh of Nangal Majha, who informed the police, said the deceased and his friend attended the marriage of Kuldip Singh’s daughter on Tuesday night.
Basanti, wife of the victim, said her husband had gone to attend a function last night but did not return.
Lakhbir Singh, SHO (Sadar), said a quarrel between the deceased and his unknown friend after the function could be the cause behind the murder. A few bricks used for the crime were also seized from the spot.
The Sadar police have registered a case under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC against the unidentified person. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after autopsy, which was conducted at the local Civil Hospital.
