With an aim to encourage common people for focussing on girls’ education, Shahkot Sub-Divisional Magistrate Navneet Kaur Bal has launched a special campaign to disseminate the message of ‘Beti Padao Beti Bachao’ to each household in Shahkot sub-division.

Addressing a programme under the banner of ‘Beti Padao Beti Bachao’ at APS College in Shahkot today, Bal said no society could eradicate social evils or ensure economic and social uplift in real terms without promoting women education. She said the Union Government as well as the state government had launched several schemes for promoting girl education at school level and at higher level.

“Our aim is to encourage parents for coming forward to provide their girls the best possible education. Girls belonging to families with lower income groups can fulfill their dreams of getting education by getting benefit of various government schemes. To make people aware of such initiatives, this special campaign has been started at the sub-division level involving educational institutes and the departments concerned,” added Bal.

She said a plan had also been chalked out for career counselling sessions focussing on rural areas so that maximum girls can get awareness about the degree courses, occupational courses and various study streams after 10th and 10+2 standards. Involvement of local people is also being ensured so that a coherent atmosphere can be created for promoting girl education, she added.
