Even after two months of the submission of a magisterial probe report regarding the communal violence of July 22 conducted by Phagwara Additional Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Singh Sandhu, nothing could come to light to defuse the ongoing differences between the civil and police administration. Neither any step could be initiated to implement the recommendations of the probe nor any action was taken on the written complaint lodged by the ADC Phagwara against the police till now. When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala, Jaskiran Singh, told The Tribune that he received the magisterial probe report of ADC Sandhu and sent it to Chief Secretary of Punjab and Principal Secretary, Home, with the DC’s suggestions and recommendations.

Mahila conference
The Nari Shakti Chetna Manch, headed by Sunita Nangal, organised a ‘mahila sammellan’ in Phagwara on Friday. PPCC spokesperson Nimisha Mehta, Congress ticket aspirant from Phagwara, Jarnail Nangal and PPCC SC wing convener Sukhwinder Kherra addressed the conference and strongly condemned the Badal-led SAD-BJP government for its ‘corrupt’ policies which had ‘spoiled’ the atmosphere of the state.
