Tanda Urmar (Hoshiarpur): The Tanda police have registered a case against a non-resident Indian (NRI) for allegedly murdering his wife Harjeet Kaur on the complaint of her family members.

The Tanda police have registered a case against a non-resident Indian (NRI) for allegedly murdering his wife Harjeet Kaur on the complaint of her family members.

Cops have lodged an FIR under Section 302 of the IPC against the woman’s husband Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Salempur, on the basis of the statement of Kahnuwan resident Jaswinder Singh, the father of the deceased.

In his statement to the police, Jaswinder Singh said his daughter Harjeet Kaur was married to Sukhwinder Singh in Salempur, but after some time, Sukhwinder died. Later, with the consent of both families, Harjeet was married to Sukhwinder's younger brother, Lakhwinder Singh, who was living in France for some time now. He told that Lakhwinder had returned from France only on Saturday. This morning, he got a phone call that her daughter has died.

When he reached the village, his daughter's body was lying in the house. Harjeet had injuries and bruises on her body. The police have registered a case against Lakhvinder and started probe in the matter.
