NRI organisation adopts Iraq victim family at Khanke

JALANDHAR: Providing the much-needed healing touch to the family of Iraq victim a charitable organisation run by the NRIs today agreed to provide free healthcare and education to one such family in Khanke village.

Providing the much-needed healing touch to the family of Iraq victim a charitable organisation run by the NRIs today agreed to provide free healthcare and education to one such family in Khanke village.

Kartarpur unit of American Association of Physician India (AAPI) had visited the family members of Kulwinder Singh, who was killed in Iraq with other victims.

The acting president of the organisation Amar Singh Chahal and secretary Suman Lata handed over the documents to enable the family members of the victim including his wife, Amandeep Kaur, mother Simbo, daughter Sanjana, and son Harsh, to avail free medical care from hospital run by it.

Similarly, they also enrolled Harsh and Sanjana under Lakshya Scholarship Scheme thereby agreeing to provide entire expenses for providing education at all level to them.

Hailing the initiative of the organisation, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said this step would give a big respite to the family which had lost its only bread winner.

Handing over a cheque for Rs one lakh to the family as financial assistance from state government, they said the state government would extend fulsome support and cooperation to the aggrieved families in this hour of crisis. They said that every effort would be made to extend a helping hand to all such families.

Amar Singh Chahal and Suman Lata said the organisation was ready to help every needy family member of the victim of the Iraq tragedy. They said that service of humanity was the main motive of this organisation. They also hailed the initiative of the district administration to rope in the organisations for ensuring well-being of these needy people.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Paramveer Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sarabjit Rai, president of District Youth Congress Ashwin Bhalla, among others, were also present on the occasion.
