One booked for dowry

PHAGWARA: On a complaint lodged by Monica, a resident of Palahai Gate locality, the police have registered a case under Sections 498-A and 406 of the IPC against her husband Harpreet Kumar, a resident of Rurrka Kalan village, near Goraya, on the charges of torturing her to bring Rs three lakh.

On a complaint lodged by Monica, a resident of Palahai Gate locality, the police have registered a case under Sections 498-A and 406 of the IPC against her husband Harpreet Kumar, a resident of Rurrka Kalan village, near Goraya, on the charges of torturing her to bring Rs three lakh.

The complainant said that she was married to the accused on December 15, 2013, and her father Nirmal Ram gave sufficient dowry in marriage. But her in-laws demanded a car and her father gave Rs one lakh for the car. She alleged that her in-laws repeatedly tortured her. She delivered a daughter on January 2, 2015. She said she was forced to leave the house of her in-laws in July last year.

No arrest has been made so for in this regard.
