Online document registration begins

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar here on Tuesday launched a Cloud-based National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS), enabling online registration at the Sub-Registrar office.

With the launching of the NGDRS as part of the government’s resident-centric focus, the initiative would be a major step towards modernising and streamlining revenue works. Besides making the process of registration simple and people-friendly with foolproof cyber security in place, it will reduce the hardships of people by reducing their visits to various revenue registration offices. The move would also eliminate the possibility of people being misled on the rates and the calculation method.

The DC said besides being an online interface for people to enter data related to registration and uploading of documents 24X7, the NGDRS would enable the automatic calculation of the stamp duty, registration fees and other fees based on collector rates and also reduce dependency on deed writers etc.

Since people would receive SMS alerts on data submission, appointment and completion of registration, there would be absolutely no scope for fraud.

The online appointment system will give flexibility to people to choose their date of appointment for registration. Also, the aadhaar number of the buyer and seller will be recorded in the document to prevent fraud.

The online appointment system and real-time report generation as well as capturing of photos are other features of the system, which will facilitate scanning and uploading of final documents on the portal. It also provides for linking of land records with the registration process, besides biometric authentication of the sub-registrars.
