Over 15 lakh to cast their vote in district

JALANDHAR: A total of 15,45,240 voters from the nine Assembly constituencies of the district would exercise their right to vote during the upcoming Assembly elections, said District Electoral Officer Kamal Kishore Yadav.

A total of 15,45,240 voters from the nine Assembly constituencies of the district would exercise their right to vote during the upcoming Assembly elections, said District Electoral Officer Kamal Kishore Yadav. He said 1,830 polling stations had been established in the nine Assembly constituencies of Jalandhar.

Elaborating more, the DEO said there were 1,93,796 voters in Phillaur, out of which 1,00,935 are men voters and 92,860 are women voters with one belonging to the third gender. In Nakodar, constituency, there are 1,84,910 voters including 95,818 men and 89,090 women voters with two belonging to the third gender. In Shahkot constituency, there are total 1,71,954 voters with 88,786 men and 83,166 women besides two voters of the third gender. In Kartarpur constituency, out of total 1,70,394 voters, 88,895 are men and 81,497are women with two voters belonging to the third gender.

In Jalandhar West constituency, there are total 1,51,745 voters out of which 79,941 are men and 71,803 are women voters with one belonging to the third gender. In Jalandhar Central constituency, out of total 1,55,505 voters, 80,873 are men and 74,628 are women voters with four voters of the third gender. In Jalandhar North constituency, there are total 1,72,218 voters out of which 91,004 are men and 81,213 are women voters with one being of the third gender. In Jalandhar Cantt constituency, there are total 1,83,796 voters out of which 97,281 are men and 86,510 are women voters with five belonging to the third gender. In Adampur constituency, out of total 1,56,768 voters, 81,552 are men and 75,215 are women with one being of the third gender.

The District Electoral Officer said that in Phillaur, 230 polling stations have been established while Nakodar has 244 polling stations. Shahkot has 234 polling booths while Kartarpur contains 217 polling stations, followed by Jalandhar West and Jalandhar Central which has 158 polling stations each. Jalandhar North has 172 polling booths and , Jalandhar Cantt has 204 polling stations while Adampur has 213 polling booths.

He also said that out of the nine assembly constituencies in Jalandhar, Phillaur has three NRI voters including two men and one woman voter while Shahkot has three men and four women NRI voters and Kartarpur has one NRI man and one woman NRI voter. Jalandhar North has two men and one woman NRI voter while Jalandhar Cantonment has one man and one woman NRI voter while Adampur has one man and one woman NRI voters. There are no NRI voters in Nakodar, Jalandhar West and Jalandhar Central constituencies.
