At Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, a one-act play ‘Anhi Maayi Da Supna’ was beautifully enacted by renowned Pakistani actors from Lahore. Apeejay, in association with Punjab Jagriti Manch, organised the play which was successfully directed by Pakistani director Madhiha Gauhar. Renowned artists of Ajoka Theatre Group from Lahore enthralled the audience with their brilliant narration and delineation of the play. The theatre group has been consistently enacting various plays in different regions of Punjab and their play “Bullah” received accolades from the audience. Principal Dr Sucharita Sharma welcomed the guests and Pakistani actors from Lahore and said that art was the only medium which helped in linking people and transcending all boundaries. She also expressed her gratitude towards Punjab Jagriti Manch for making the event a success. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks which was presented by Satnam Singh Manka, general secretary, Punjab Jagriti Manch.

Highest score

Lisha, a student of the PG department of economics at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya scored 334 out of 400 marks and has been placed at the top of the university merit list in the recently declared results of B.Sc. Economics Sem V. Sanjana, also from the same class scored 295 out of 400 marks and secured the fifth position in the university merit list. Principal Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the students and their parents. She also lauded efforts of the PG department of economics.

Guest lecture

To enhance the knowledge of students in the field of management, KCL Institute of Management and Technology arranged a guest lecture of Dr BB Goyal (Professor at UBS, Panjab University) for MBA students. He talked about recent advancements in the field of management. He gave special focus on channel management, red ocean strategy and blue ocean strategy. He also counselled students for selecting the best opportunities in terms of employment for their career progression. The guest lecture was conducted in the presence of Director Dr SK Sood, Vice-Principal GK Jain, Head of the management department RS Deol and Associate Professor Dr Inderpal Singh.

Students win tech fest

Students of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College bagged seven prizes and cash awards worth Rs 70,000 in a state-level tech fest, Inno Tech-2017, held at Science City, Jalandhar. Principal Dr Jagroop Singh said students bagged the first prize in software and automobile category, second prize in mechatronics and miscellaneous category. They won all three prizes in automobile category. The principal honoured the winning students and praised the efforts of the staff. On this occasion, Rajeev Bhatia, JS Ghera, Richa Arora, Prince Madaan, Gaurav Sharma and Mandeep Singh were also present. —TNS

Int’l Day of Forestry

Celebrating the International Day of Forestry, GNA University, Phagwara, collaborated with the District Forest Officer, Hoshiarpur, to run a marathon on Tuesday, inculcating awareness among masses, students and faculty of the university and local colleges about the need to preserve and promote Green Earth. The marathon was flagged off by VC Dr Prem Kumar of GNA University at the City’s Green Park.
