Placement drive

Five final year students of the department of ECE of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar - Parteek Gupta, Nisha Thapa, Rajat Dhiman, Pranav and Manish Kumar Das were selected by a multi-national company, M/s Centum Electronics Limited, Bangalore, at the pay package of Rs 1.22 lakh per annum in the campus placement drive interview recently held at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar.



Five final year students of the department of ECE of Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar - Parteek Gupta, Nisha Thapa, Rajat Dhiman, Pranav and Manish Kumar Das were selected by a multi-national company, M/s Centum Electronics Limited, Bangalore, at the pay package of Rs 1.22 lakh per annum in the campus placement drive interview recently held at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. Principal Dr Jagroop Singh congratulated the Head of the Department (HoD), JS Ghera, faculty members of the department and the selected students. He also blessed them for their prosperous and bright future. S Jagroop Singh, Principal, MCP, JS Ghera, Mandeep Singh,lecturer, ECE, Preet Kanwal, lecturer, Kritika Chawla and Navita Komal, lecturer, were also present on the occasion.

Seminar organised on computational techniques

A national seminar on recent advances in computational techniques was organised by DAV College, Jalandhar. Prof Ajay Aggarwal and Prof Ashu Bahl were the convenor and the organising secretary of the seminar respectively. Dr AK Paul, Vice-Chancellor, DAV University, was the chief guest on the occasion while the guest of honour was Dr Pammy Manchanda, HoD of the department of mathematics at GND University (GNDU) Amritsar. The seminar started with the  ‘lightning of lamps’ by principal and guest speakers. Dr Paul said these computational techniques helped in developing the processes in short-span. The guest of honour, Dr Pammy, appreciated the department for the academic record and hard working faculty. Principal Dr SK Arora congratulated the department for conducting the seminar. He highlighted the importance of such seminars to make students updated and aware regarding current and emerging issues. Head of the department and convenor of the seminar welcomed the guests and gave a brief introduction about the department and seminar. Keynote speakers of the seminar were Prof Janak Raj Sharma from SLIET, Longowal, Danger, Prof Vinay Kanwar from UIET, PU Chandigarh, Dr Rajni Sharma from DAVIET, Jalandhar. Reena Tondon from KMV College, Bharti Gupta from Doaba College, Rekha from APJ College, Harpreet Kaur from the LLR Institute of Engineering, Moga, Sona Bansal from Sikh National College, Banga, Meenakshi Gandhi and Kawaljeet Kaur from the DAV College, Jalandhar, came to present their papers at the seminar among others. As many as 39 participants came for the paper presentation. 

Industrial visit 

The Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions organised an industrial visit for  students of the department  of management at GNA Gears Ltd, Mehtiana. During the visit, Prof Rohan Sharma and Prof Pankaj, accompanied and guided students about the importance and need of the industrial visit. Mandeep Kaur, executive, explained about the working style of different departments. She also explained the students how raw material could be converted into finished product. Students  joined the visit with dedication and interest.

CTSE national-level test 

As many as 82 students of PCM SD Collegiate Senior Secondary Girls School qualified in the 11th Commerce Talent Search Examination (CTSE) National- Level Test (2016-17). Vanshika, Simmy and Khushboo of Class XII and Ritika, Kiran and Kamaljit of Class XI won the first, the second and the third prizes respectively. Principal Kiran Arora and in-charge, Kusum Midha, congratulated the winners, their parents and members of the staff.

Spring bonanza 

Eklavya School organised ‘Spring bonanza’ from March 20 to March 24. Students took part in different activities like personality development, aerobics, games, art and craft, computer class, cooking without fire. In dance class, they danced on a ‘Lehmbargini’ song. They learnt the table manners in the personality development class. Students learnt clay moulding of snail, dog and flower. They played indoor games like solve the puzzles, arrange the blocks. JK Gupta, chairperson of Eklavya School, director, Seema Handa, manager, Sapna Bakshi and principal Dimpal Sharma appreciated the efforts of students.

High scores

Students of BVoc, sound technology, (Semester III) of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, triumphed in Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, examination held in May 2016. Sahibdeep Singh stood first by securing 345 out of 400 marks, Jakirat came second with 336 marks, Lovedeep stood third with 292 marks and Varinder Pal Singh remained fourth with 289 marks. Principal Dr Sucharita congratulated the students.  —TNS
