PPCB raids industrial units to check noise, air pollution

JALANDHAR: To check the noise and air pollution caused due to the industrial units, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on Monday inspected several industrial units under the Tandarust Punjab Mission.

To check the noise and air pollution caused due to the industrial units, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) on Monday inspected several industrial units under the Tandarust Punjab Mission.

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma said these actions were taken following the complaints of locals regarding air and noise pollution. He said a team led by Assistant Environmental Engineer Sandeep Kumar inspected M/s Apex Surgical Model House Jalandhar. Likewise, Sharma said the inspection was also carried out in M/s Shiva Tools, Wariana Complex, Jalandhar, M/s Jay Dee Leather Pvt Ltd, Leather Complex among others.

The DC said during the checking, all these industrial units were found complying with the prescribed norms. He also said a separate team led by Assistant Environmental Engineer Satyajeet Singh Attri inspected M/s Aditiya Industries Pvt Ltd, Kotli Kamboj village, Shahkot, following a complaint. Sharma said that the complaint of villagers was regarding air pollution and stink by the industry.

The DC said each industry was visited in the presence of the complainant and industry was guided to rectify the shortcomings to remove the grievances of the complainant.
