Pulse polio round tomorrow

JALANDHAR: On the directions of the Health Department, the migratory pulse polio round is being held from July 2 to 4 in the district.

On the directions of the Health Department, the migratory pulse polio round is being held from July 2 to 4 in the district. To spread awareness regarding the drive, an awareness rally was taken out here on Friday under Civil Surgeon Dr Maninder Kaur Minhas from her office.

Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Desraj and District Family Welfare Officer Dr Gurmeet Kaur Duggal flagged off the rickshaw rally and took stock of the arrangements for the campaign. Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Desraj said there was a target to administer polio drops to 27,068 rural children and 1,10,095 urban children.

He said during the drive, 49,199 homes in the rural areas and 2,24,442 homes in the urban areas shall be covered. During the drive, 721 high-risk areas shall be covered. As many as 1,089 teams have been deputed of which 1,011 teams shall cover homes while 24 transit teams and 54 mobile teams shall administer polio drops to students at various public places.

During the campaign, children in the age of 0 to 5 years from Jalandhar urban areas and migrant children in rural areas shall be administered polio drops by teams who shall visit homes in their areas during all three days of the drive.

On the occasion, Assistant Health Officer Dr Surinder Kumar appealed to people to administer polio drops to their children and extend due cooperation to pulse polio teams. He said there were special directions to the staff to place polio vaccines in carriers properly and maintain cold chains. On the occasion, district mass media officer Purshottam Lal, deputy mass media officer Parminder Kaur, vaccination assistant Jyoti, among others were present.
