To ensure proper cleanliness and beautification around roads, the Public Works Department (PWD) has started a cleanliness fortnight under the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission.

Executive Engineer (XEN) of the construction division I Balvir Singh said under the campaign, both sides along the roads would be cleared off unwanted weeds and shrubs. He said the roads would be spruced up to ensure better mobility for commuters.

Balvir said the drive would ensure cleaning and beautification of about 50 km of road, falling under the jurisdiction of the division.

The XEN said the prominent roads to be cleared under the campaign would include Banga-Phillaur, Phagwara-Dosanjh and Parjian roads, beside others. The roads were being spruced up to ensure that people do not face any problem while commuting.

Balvir said the department was committed to ensure a clean, green and pollution-free environment in the district for which the campaign would play a pivotal role.
