JALANDHAR: Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, celebrated the 62nd Railway Week Awards-2017. RP Nibariya, General Manager, RCF, was the chief guest and gave away mementoes, merit certificates and cash awards to 114 officers and employees for their outstanding performances during the year 2016-17.

Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, celebrated the 62nd Railway Week Awards-2017. RP Nibariya, General Manager, RCF, was the chief guest and gave away mementoes, merit certificates and cash awards to 114 officers and employees for their outstanding performances during the year 2016-17. He also presented running safety shield to plant group selected for maintaining high standard of safety. Speaking on the occasion, Nibariya said the Railway Week was celebrated every year to encourage and felicitate employees for their outstanding performance during the year. It was due to the untiring efforts and dedication of the RCF employees that today Indian Railways has made remarkable progress in achieving important goals and targets, he added.

Nibariya enumerated the achievements of RCF and said the manufacturing of coaches to run at a speed of 200-km per hour was near completion and the coaches would roll out within a month. RCF rolled out all coaches for Bangladesh Railway of their 120-coach export order. Also, 60 coaches for Defence were turned out during the year made according to the requirement of the Indian Army. Five Humsafar rakes were manufactured and RCF will manufacture another five rakes during the present fiscal, he said.

The General Manager also asked for dedicated and tireless efforts of RCF employees to work for manufacturing of coaches for increasing the satisfaction quotient of passengers besides operating at high speed. Railway Board has asked for giving passengers better services and making railway journeys enjoyable and hence proposed new initiatives in the introduction of New Genre train services like Antodaya (a long-distance, fully unreserved, superfast train service with coaches having vestibules in both ends) and Deen Dayalu – the manufacturing of which is underway in RCF. He further said the RCF had also got two prestigious awards in the field of Environment management viz. Golden Peacock Environment Award and Greentech Environment Award during the year.
