Residents celebrate togetherness in open air with ‘Big Streets’ event

JALANDHAR: After receiving a roaring response twice at Jalandhar and Ludhiana, the CT Group of Institutions, in association with AB’s The Body Temple came up with its event ‘Big Streets’ to celebrate the spirit of togetherness in fresh air on Sunday morning at Model Town.

After receiving a roaring response twice at Jalandhar and Ludhiana, the CT Group of Institutions, in association with AB’s The Body Temple came up with its event ‘Big Streets’ to celebrate the spirit of togetherness in fresh air on Sunday morning at Model Town. Jalandhar Commissionerate of Police and Model Town Shopkeepers Association (MTSA) extended their support to the event.

The scene was so thundering that people came along to celebrate togetherness in the fresh air with Commissioner of Police Arpit Shukla and other senior police officers of Jalandhar. MTV Roadies X4 Balraj Singh Khehra also marked his presence at the event.

The event galvanised the people to participate in a shared vision of an active and healthy way of life. It was organised with an aim to inspire people to use the space in a holistic manner. It was all about opening streets to people, sharing resources, transforming communities. It was milestone crafted to galvanise the citizens to participate in a shared vision of an active, car-free lifestyle. The traffic was not allowed for three hours as residents reformed the roads as open-air dance studios, art hubs, gymnasiums and yoga institutes. There was yoga, aerobics, zumba , bakwa, bhangra, tug of war, open dj, badminton, rope skipping, soccer and karate.

The Model Town streets from 6am to 9am onwards were cordoned off. They used the streets for recreation that promotes health, wellbeing, fitness, togetherness and joy.

Large number of school also participated under the special campaign ‘Friends of Police’ run by Jalandhar Commissionerate of Police. An interactive session of ‘Coffee with Cops’ was also held on the occasion where Commissioner of Police Arpit Shukla invited the Jalandharities to be the friends of police. Arpit Shukla said this event in its previous editions has encouraged the citizens about the fact that cities were meant for people but not cars. “We truly appreciate the CT Group of Institutions and AB’s The Body Temple for organising this event,” he said. Manbir Singh (Managing Director, CT Group of Institutions) said, “This fourth edition also got great response. People enjoyed this initiative. This is a commendable initiative that has won accolades.” S Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) exclaimed over achieving great success in its previous editions.
