After Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday apologised to former Punjab minister and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia for having levelled ‘unfounded’ allegations related to involvement in drugs trade, the residents could not stop themselves condemning this move of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) and said, “The move has brought the end of AAP in Punjab.”

Since yesterday after the apology letter of Kejriwal to Majithia got viral on social media, the AAP followers jumped to social media and posted various tweets stating how disappointed they are from Kejriwal, who always claimed to be the man of principles and promised to fight against corruption till the very end.

Vijayta Taneja, professor at Khalsa College on her facebook timeline shared, “In journalism it is a principle we teach to students that is – ‘Kiss’ – keep it simple and short. Following that I will say – Rest in peace (RIP) AAP.”

Another resident Kulwinder Kumar said, “The decision of Kejriwal to apologise Majithia has left many like me unhappy. I never expected this from him as he very boldly took the issue of drug in Punjab during rallies and his events and promised to put everyone responsible or involved in drugs behind the bars.”

The news has given a major shock not only to the party members but to the people as well as their hopes with this apology had been shattered and this had eventually brought a decline of AAP in the state, he added.

It is prominent to mention here that even the AAP Punjab leaders Sukhpal Khaira and Kanwar Sandhu took to twitter to air their disagreement. Sukhpal Khaira on twitter shared, “We’re appalled and stunned by the apology of @ArvindKejriwal tendered today, we don’t hesitate to admit that we haven’t been consulted on this meek surrender by a leader of his stature.”

Meanwhile, residents also said, “How much sad we are actually today over his apology, we were actually not on the day when Kejriwal lost to Congress and could not make government in the state.”

Davinder Kaur, a student said, Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to Bikram Majithia in the defamation case on drugs was a let down to the people, especially the youth of Punjab. We were having a lot of hopes from AAP and were praying for its comeback after four years while this action of him had ruined the party’s image completely.”

Because of him today, even the credibility of other AAP leaders has been put on stake, we doubt like he took turn may be other leaders too will follow the same footsteps, she added.
