A two-day ‘Capacity building programme’ on classroom management was concluded at Ivy World School on Saturday. A resource team from the CBSE, Panchkula, was including Vinod Bhatia, who is an MA Medical with an impressive track record and 18-year of administrative and teaching experience.The other member of the resource team was Sangeeta Bhatia, a student counsellor with 16-year of experience in life skills and adolescent issues. The principal S Chauhan said, “It is the need of the hour to train teachers on effective skills required for managing classrooms to maximise the learning in the class. The programme highlighted that effective classroom management requires teachers to have skills and clear ideas of what exactly is needed to create an effective teaching and learning environment in the classroom”. As many as 55 teachers from various schools from in and around Jalandhar participated in the programme. It gave a golden opportunity for the teachers to learn and polish their teaching and classroom management skills.
Vanamahotsav
Vanamahotsav was celebrated at Dayanand Model School, Model Town. The morning assembly started with a speech on the event. Students were apprised of the importance of the trees. The main activity under the drive comprised of planting of new saplings on the school premises. An awareness rally was also carried out by students of Classes VI to VIII in the company of teachers to make people aware of their responsibilities towards the environment. Besides, paper presentation competition for Classes IX and X was organised, wherein students presented their views on the topic ‘Tree plantation’ along with motivational videos. Principal Vinod Kumar sensitised students and urged the requisite of greener tomorrow to control the onslaught of global warming.
Awareness campaign on dengue
An awareness campaign was organised at SVJC DAV Public School, Dasuya, on ‘Anti-Dengue Month’ under the notification of Civil Surgeon’s Office, Hoshiarpur. Under the guidelines of S Sharma, principal of the school, co-curricular activities were organised to spread awareness among students against anti-dengue programme. Poster making and quiz competitions were organised among seniors. Rohit Sharma, Ajayveer Singh (VIII) got the first position in the poster making competition. Paramveer Singh, Amandeep Kaur of Class IX and Srishti, Prabhjot Kaur of Class X got the first position in poster making competition. Red house got the first position, blue house got the second position and green house bagged the third position in quiz competition. Students were made aware about the prevention of dengue by teachers. TNS/OC
