Seminar on dengue prevention held

JALANDHAR: To apprise students of swine flu and dengue menace, a seminar was held at the Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road. Dr RS Randhawa and Dr Satish Sood addressed the gathering.

To apprise students of swine flu and dengue menace, a seminar was held at the Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road. Dr RS Randhawa and Dr Satish Sood addressed the gathering.

The district epidemiologist, while emphasising on prevalence of dengue, said the dengue mosquito primarily bred in coolers, fridges, trays and water utensils so these should be cleaned.

Teams of the health department also held a seminar on preventing dengue at the Civil Hospital.

District IDSP coordinator, Dr Preetkamal said, “We can prevent dengue and chikungunya with small interventions.”Emphasis was given on not to ignore unresolved fever, sore throat and chest infection. The district epidemiologist also said in case of severity of problem, advice should be sought from a medical specialist. He said one should not visit crowded places and always cover his mouth and nose before coughing and sneezing.
