Social activists clean city areas

JALANDHAR: Remembering the Father of the Nation today, social activists took up the cleanliness mission in their respective areas.

Remembering the Father of the Nation today, social activists took up the cleanliness mission in their respective areas.

Senior citizens of Urban Estate Phase-2, representing NGO Gulistan, took to brooms and cleaned a two kilometer stretch of 120-feet road today.

Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Rajiv Verma, presided over the event as president of NGO Ajeet Goswami, chairman Om Parkash Sharma, project director of another NGO Disha Deep, SM Singh, participated in the event.

A cleanliness and tree plantation drive was held at the Nakodar railway station by social activist Gaurav Jain today.

Students of Sainik School, Kapurthala, also participated in the cleanliness drive on the campus. The school staff encouraged the students to distribute unused and undersised clothes lying at their homes. They also participated in tree plantation activity.

The DRM of Ferozepur railway station officially handed over the maintenance of Sultanpur Lodhi railway station to environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal.
