The Jalandhar Rural police today arrested three persons with one kg of heroin, which is worth Rs 1 crore in the international market. The accused were identified as Ranjit Kaur, a widow and a resident of Bahamian Khurd in the Shahkot area, and Satpal Singh and Ranjit Singh.
While brothers Satpal and Ranjit Singh were a part of a high-level international drug syndicate running in the area, Ranjit Kaur was their accomplice and used to ferry heroin and other narcotics from one place to another. Senior Superintendent of Police Rural Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Ranjit Kaur already had six cases registered against her under the NDPS Act.
While five cases were registered against her in Shahkot, one case was registered in Moga. Also, two cases were registered against Satpal Singh under the NDPS Act in Khanna and Ludhiana while one case was also registered against Ranjit Singh in Sidhwan Bet village in Jagraon. The police have also recovered a scooter and a motorcycle from the three accused.
