At the ancestral house of Shaheed – E – Azam Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan, Nawanshahr Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa unveiled tourism pictorial brochure and portrait depicting vibrant cultural tapestry of the district.
The brochure showcases the lesser known heritage as well as cultural, religious and patriotic locations of historical and architectural significance.
The pictorial brochure and portrait has been meticulously compiled by Punjab’s eminent author, nature artist, heritage promoter and lawyer Harpreet Sandhu, in collaboration with the district administration. It is a testament to the diverse heritage that has shaped the identity and features ancient temples and historical monuments to traditional art forms and cultural festivities.
The brochure showcases photographs taken by Dr Akhil Chaudhary, highlighting the rich heritage of Nawanshahr, which not only serves as a visual delight but also as an educational tool for residents and tourists to explore and appreciate the cultural hidden gems and iconic heritage sites— including Khatkar Kalan Museum & Ancestral House of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Gurudwara Tahli Sahib, Gurdwara Raja Sahib, Col. Karan Dhandi’s Haveli, Garhpadhna, Baba Balraj Temple, Shivala Banna Temple, Bhagwan Parshuram Birth Place, Baradari Garden, Kirpal Sagar, Baudi Sahib Temple, Harappan Mounds in Charan, Rauza Sharif Madhali, Samadhi Rana Udho and Colonial Railway Station — that define the district’s rich history.
DC Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, while unveiling the portrait and pictorial brochures, appreciated the sincere efforts of Harpreet Sandhu’s artwork to highlight the lesser-known heritage locations of Nawanshahr.
He informed that the pictorial brochures will be available at local tourism centres, inviting individuals to embark on a visual journey that captures the heart and soul of the district.
