Traders get tips on Goods and Services Tax enrolment

JALANDHAR: A meeting was conducted today by Daljit Kaur, Deputy Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax Division-I, Jalandhar and Dr Mandeep Kumar Batish, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax, Division-II, Jalandhar, for sensitising the trade and service tax assessees about the immediate need for migration of their existing registration to Goods and Services Tax (GST).

A meeting was conducted today by Daljit Kaur, Deputy Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax Division-I, Jalandhar and Dr Mandeep Kumar Batish, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax, Division-II, Jalandhar, for sensitising the trade and service tax assessees about the immediate need for migration of their existing registration to Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Representatives of various associations and service tax payers from trade/industries attended the meeting. The members of the association/assessees were informed about the procedure required to be followed for GST enrolment.

All existing assessees have to complete their migration process by the end of January. Doubts regarding the enrolment for GST were duly cleared. A Power Point presentation was made by the department’s officers to explain the process of migration. The department promised cooperation on its part.
