Two city-based friends were killed in a road mishap on the Amb-Nehria road in Una district in Himachal Pradesh last night.

The two were on their way to pay obeisance at Maha Kaleshwar Temple on a motorcycle when it was reportedly hit by some unknown vehicle. The two youths sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Kamal Kumar (22) and Sunil of the Sanjay Gandhi Nagar here. Sunil was a native of Nepal. The victim’s family members brought the bodies from Himachal Pradesh this evening.

Sushil Tiwari, a social activist and a friend of the victim, said the duo, along with a group of nearly 15 youths, had left for the Maha Kaleshwar temple on Sunday morning. When they met with the tragedy, the other group was not accompanying them as they were ahead.

It was only after area residents noticed the accident that they raised an alarm and informed the police. Sources said the residents had also rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared them brought dead.

Sources said the incident occurred after their bike skidded from thebroken road which led to their collision.

Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on Sanjay Gandhi Nagar. Kamal was in tailoring profession, while the other youth Sunil was working in a shop.
