Jalandhar, April 23
Two students from the district managed to grab positions on the list of top 10 in the Class XII PSEB exams, the results of which were declared on Monday.
In Jalandhar district, a total of 21,300 students appeared for the Class XII board exams, of which 15,686 passed. The pass percentage in the district is 73.64 per cent.
Amritpal Singh and Rajveer Singh — commerce students of Meritorious School, Jalandhar — secured 95.33 per cent and 95.56 per cent marks, respectively. Hailing from Ludhiana, both students gave the credit for their performance to their parents and teachers.
Amritpal Singh said he was happy to make it to the list of top 10.
Meanwhile, any student of Nehru Garden Girls Senior Secondary School, which is known for producing toppers, has failed to secure a position in top 10. The detailed merit list of students is expected to be released soon.
As per the district-wise results, Mukstar Sahib bagged the first position with 79. 64 per cent while Mansa, Ludhiana and Bathinda secured second, third and fourth positions with 78.59 %, 78.56% and 77.48%, respectively.
DEO (Secondary) Satnam Singh said, “The competition was very tough this year and despite that, the students have performed well. The result of the district has improved and we find the performance satisfactory. Though two students have appeared in top 10, we are of the firm belief that the number of students making it to the merit list will be high as compared to the last year’s results.”
Confusion prevails among students
After the PSEB results were out, students could be seen confused as some of them were unable to see their results. Many students claimed that while surfing the PSEB official website, it went unresponsive a number of times.
Confusion also prevailed about the top 10 list of students announced by the board as many students said despite scoring high marks, they had not figured on the list.
The principal of Jalandhar Meritorious School, Ramandeep Singh, said, “The performance of the school has been good, but there is still confusion over the results. There are some students who are good at studies and they were expecting better. But they are not on the list.”
“On the list of top 10 toppers, students of the humanity stream have been appeared. The science toppers have not been mentioned on the list,” he added.
