Following the implementation of Marks Moderation Policy, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared its Class XII examination results today.

Vithal Bhandari, a non-medical student of Delhi Public School here, grabbed the first position (overall and non-medical stream) in the district by getting 97.6 per cent marks.

Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune, Vithal gave credit of his success to his mother, who has been bringing up the family after the demise of Vithal’s father in an accident.

Aspiring to pursue BTech course in computer science, Vithal said his Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) result was awaited, so he was yet to decide where to go for the BTech computer science degree.

“I did not follow a strict regimen for studies. I studied only when I really felt like doing so. I never forced myself to study. Similarly, my mother never pressurised me to study. One of the most important things was I believed was studying in early morning. To refresh myself, I used to watch television and Internet. I like ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ and infotainment programmes on Discovery and Natgeo channels,” said Vithal, adding that the only mantra of success was to do what you really believed in. Sonu Bhandari, Vithal’s mother, said, “I feel very happy for my son today. I have been running the business left behind by his father since 2002 and also bringing up my family.


Astha Bhandari 97.2% Commerce topper 

Astha Bhandari, daughter of former BJP MLA from Jalandhar North KD Bhandari has grabbed first position in the commerce stream.

She has secured 97.2 per cent marks. 

A student of MGN School Urban Estate, Astha gives credit of her success to her teachers, who motivated her to study hard and her family that provided her suitable environment to study.

“Being the house of a legislator, the movement of people remains heavy in the house, yet my parents took really good care of me, as they provided me with the kind of atmosphere that my study could not get disturbed. I had a separate room to study, where no one could disturb me,” said Astha.

Aspiring to be an IAS officer, Astha said, “I have started the process to take admission in Delhi University to pursue my graduation in economics honours. I would also start taking coaching for the IAS exam in Delhi.”

Speaking about her study schedule, she said instead of piling up work for the exam, I studied smoothly on a daily basis. I opted for self study in most of the subjects, though I had taken tuition for accounts and mathematics, which was an additional subject. One of the most important things was I kept my mobile switched off during the exam days as it is very distractive.

Her father KD Bhandari said he brings up his daughter like boys and provides all support to her.


Mansimer Kaur Sachdeva 95.6%  Humanities topper  

In humanities, Mansimer Kaur Sachdeva of Cambridge International School has got the first position by getting 95.6 per cent marks.

She wants to pursue psychology in future. “I want to do a PhD in this subject, therefore I have already started the process to take admission in Douglas College in Vancouver, Canada. The reason I would like to pursue psychology is I like reading people’s mind and want to solve their problems. I used to do the same in my school,” she added.

Daughter of a businessman, Mansimer gives credit of her success to her teachers and parents.


Navneet Kaur  96.6% Medical topper

Navneet Kaur Gill, a student of MGN School Adarsh Nagar, has stood first in the medical stream in the district by grabbing 96.6 per cent marks.

Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune, Charanjit Kaur, mother of Navneet Kaur Gill, said Navneet wanted to pursue the MBBS course and aspired to be gynaecologist.

She said Navneet Kaur Gill worked really hard to pursue her studies. Meanwhile, she has already appeared for National (National Eligibility and Entrance Test) NEET and (All India Institue of Medical Science) AIIMS entrance exams.


Gurleen Kaur shines with 88.7%

Gurleen Kaur, a visually impaired girl from Cambridge International School, has got 88.7 per cent mark in the humanities stream. Elated at her success, she said she wanted be a PCS officer and would pursue her further studies in Lyalpur Khalsa College. Gurleen said the school provided a writer to her who was one year junior to her to write her papers as she could not see. She gives the credit of her success to her family, particularly her mother and teachers. Her mother Manpreet Kaur said, “I feel like I cleared exams with more than 88 per cent marks not Gurleen.
