Western disturbance disturbs campaigning

Already the candidates who are in the fray for the Municipal Corporation elections, which are scheduled to be held on December 17, are concerned over getting a short span of time for campaigning, the western disturbance which resulted in rains has disturbed them.

The meteorological department has predicted the rain on Tuesday, too, which will prove an obstacle in campaigning.

Due to the continuous rain since early morning, active campaigning was badly affected, especially door to door campaigning.

The candidates, however, did not openly accept that the rain had deterred their routine, but the workers associated with the candidates accepted that the work of campaigning did get affected.

The announcement of the elections was made in the last week of November, which took some time for parties to allot the tickets to candidates.

Nominations were filed from December 2 to 6 after which the withdrawal of the nomination was held till December 8, and it was only after that, the candidates started doing the campaign.

One of the workers, associated with the Congress, pleading anonymity, said it was not possible to cover the homes today.

“We had planned everything yesterday evening but the rain played a spoilsport and we had to drop the plan,” he said.

Even the Dholwalas were found waiting for the rain to stop.

However, in the afternoon, some of the candidates managed to step outside but, that, too, for some time.

“The candidates fold their hands to seek votes, but now, the candidates along with the workers are surely folding hands in front of the God to stop this western disturbance,” said a resident.
