Vishal (21), an NRI, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at Patti village.

According to Chabbewal police, Vishal had returned from Dubai two months ago, after the girl he loved, had given her consent to marry him and a message in this regard was sent to him.

Later, her parents refused to marry her off with Vishal. Vishal took the extreme step on January 6. He was brought home yesterday from hospital. The doctors there had declared that there was no hope left for him. He breathed his last at home in the wee hours.

In a statement to the Chabbewal police, Nirmal Kaur, mother of the deceased, said Vishal had an affair with Mandeep Kaur, a resident of Jandoli village.

He had returned from Dubai in November, on the call of Mandeep Kaur, but when he came here, the girl’s family started threatening him to implicate him in a false case. The matter went to the panchayat, and on January 4, an agreement was signed in the panchayat by both sides.

After it, Vishal consumed some toxic drug on January 6. Investigating officer, ASI Hansraj, told that after the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family.

Mandeep Kaur, her brother and maternal aunt, Ravinder Kaur, were booked for abetment to suicide under Section 306 of IPC on the statement of Nirmal Kaur.
