The issue of the alleged suicide bid by an IAS officer reverberated in the Legislative Council today as opposition members created a ruckus in the House, demanding action against the other IAS officer involved in the case.
The opposition members also walked out from the House over the issue.
As the House met, National Conference lawmaker Qaiser Jamshed Lone raised the issue of the alleged suicide bid by an IAS officer.
“There was a report in the local media last week that claimed that an IAS officer made a suicide bid minutes after an IAS officer had visited her official residence,” Lone said, adding that the woman IAS officer had been transferred by the government recently. He demanded action against the other IAS officer who allegedly abetted the “suicide bid”.
Congress MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga supported the NC demand while asking why an FIR had not been registered in the case. The opposition members asked the government to issue a statement on the issue.
Council Chairman Anayat Ali asked the members to sit down and informed them that the government was investigating the issue.
However, opposition members entered the well of the House and demanded a statement from the government and sought action against the IAS officer.
As the noisy scenes continued, Education Minister Naeem Akhter intervened and asked the opposition members to name the officer.
