Jammu, September 19
The police recovered three guns and over 100 rounds of ammunition during a search operation in the Narwal Bala area on the outskirts of the city today.
“Three 12-bore short-barrel guns along with 110 rounds of ammunition were recovered from an agricultural field in the Narwal Bala area of Jammu,” said Narwal police post in charge Sub-Inspector Vishal Kumar.
The field where the arms and ammunition were hidden in bushes belongs to Surinder Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal, a resident of Narwal Bala, he added. The officer informed that the arms and ammunition were stolen from a gun house in Trikuta Nagar a couple of months ago.
“The arms and ammunition were hidden in a sack and placed under bushes,” he said. He said six 12-bore guns and nearly 1,000 rounds were stolen from the gun house. The police had recovered over 500 rounds from Sunjwan Morh last week. With today’s recoveries, the police have recovered three guns and over 600 rounds. Nearly 350 rounds and three more guns are yet to be recovered.
However, no arrests have been made so far as the culprits remain unidentified and untraceable.
