The Army installations in the Jammu region remembered the martyrs. A wreath-laying ceremony was also organised here.

Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year in the country, in recognition of Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa's (then a Lieutenant General) taking over as the first Commander-in-Chiefof the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on January 15, 1949. — TNS
